10-minute Indoor Walking Workout for Seniors, Beginner Exercisers

This 10-minute indoor walking workout will help improve your cardiovascular health by getting your heart rate up and increasing strength with exercises that work your legs, glutes, core and upper body. Perfect for seniors and beginner exercisers. This workout is about 1200 steps, more or less depending on your pace.

Join my 81-year-old mom and me as we walk and say yes to next steps to good health. Take her advice: “Don’t sit around. Get up and walk!”

Marching or walking in place is the foundation for the workout. The 30-second rounds will also work on your balance and coordination, which is important to prevent falls, the leading cause of non-fatal and fatal injuries among seniors.

Be sure to warm up before doing this workout. Do one of our warm up videos:

  10. Just found this and started , haven’t really done much in 10 years, so went fairly slow, but loved it , it’s great when you don’t just get something that in 2 minutes you just can’t keep up so you give up.

  11. great walking workout for me aged 70, really appreciate your videos, lost mobility after COVID lockdown and became isolated so didn’t get back into walking out and about, hopefully this will now change, thanks so much.

  14. Been seeing 28 day challenge workouts all over social media. As a senior we have to be careful especially with osteo issues. Thank you for being here to teach and support us. You are my 28 day challenge!!

  15. This was "yes2good." I actually felt like I was traveling. Great pacing and great workout. You two are "yes2amazing." But I would like to know if you really had that hot dog after, as I’m guessing you both did!

  16. I have been doing these exercises daily for some time now. I’m 85 and have a terribly weak left leg.

  17. Oh my gosh – this is the first time I’ve exercised in the past six months and I couldn’t make it past 8-1/2 minutes! I was laid for months after a bad fall backwards down my basement staircase, resulting in three broken ribs and a broken collarbone. Last week my doctor said it’s time for me to get up and start to exercise because I’ve literally lost all muscle tone and I’ve gained weight. I just turned 70 and I’m anxious to begin a gentle daily routine that won’t put a strain on my collarbone. I decided to challenge myself to your indoor walking workout for beginners/seniors, but I had to stop before I reached the end. (I had no idea I was so completely out of shape!) πŸ™„
However, I’m not going to be defeated. This is, after all, only my first day. So I will be back tomorrow with renewed resolve to get through a little bit more of the workout each day…

I’ll see both of you nice ladies tomorrow morning! 🧚

  18. Updated: I started this walk three weeks back, mind you I couldn’t even breathe I was so out of shape. Me having a horrible spine has kept me sitting on my couch for the longest. Not really an excuse, but this video has helped me a lot with low impact workout. First time I turned on the video I could only do five minutes for about a week in . I finally got to the ten minutes the second week. Now I’m able to do this first thing in the morning , and once again in the afternoon. I am a bit sore but no where near what I was! Keep it up guys! I’ll update again on if I’ve lost any weight using this indoor exercise. Thanks for sharing such an amazing video.

  19. Feeling so much better these past few months! The journey has been amazing, and I’m excited for what’s ahead. How’s everyone else doing? Let’s keep each other motivated! πŸ’¬

  20. Loving this. I’ve had so many fitness set backs in the last 5 years. This is a great starting place
